JL Watts is a Midwestern internal medicine physician who has spent her career teaching new doctors and obsessing about books.
After years of writing about the economic implications of heart disease and the impact of social factors on healthcare outcomes, she decided to write about something that promised a happy ending. As the descendent of gun-toting Czechoslovakian immigrants, writing has allowed her to embrace her heritage and to celebrate beer, kolaches, and polka in the process.
JL currently lives in Omaha, Nebraska with her husband, two teenage sons, and an army of felines. She shoots a gun occasionally, but her polka is a little rusty. This is her first novel.
